This simulation course provides participants with an immersive experience in the European Parliament, held over three days in Brussels. The first two days take place at the Committee of the Regions, followed by a session at the European Parliament. The main goal is for participants to represent Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) within one of the political groups, engaging in activities that mirror the actual legislative process.
Throughout the course, participants will debate, discuss, write proposals, and vote on legislation, focusing on the EU Climate Law of 2021. This law represents a major step in Europe’s efforts to combat climate change, setting legally binding targets to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. Participants will tackle real-world challenges related to climate change, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions, transitioning to renewable energy sources, and setting strict environmental regulations.
This project is not just about learning the legislative process; it offers a unique hands-on experience that develops critical skills such as negotiation, public speaking, and policy drafting. Participants gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of EU decision-making, preparing them for careers in international relations, law, politics, and environmental policy. The simulation fosters teamwork, strategic thinking, and a comprehensive view of the role of the European Parliament in shaping EU laws.
